Cignal & Samal, Bataan Support Jessica Sanchez

May 17, 2012

American Idol, one of the most successful singing competitions in the US, has produced 10 winners in the past, all of which continue to share their music all over the world. In last week’s episode, Jessica Sanchez – a strong contender in the American Idol competition – got the most votes, ushering her to the Top 3.  Jessica Sanchez was born in California to parents Gilbert and Editha Sanchez.  Gilbert, her father, is a Mexican-American originally from Texas. Editha, Jessica’s mother, is a Filipno-American who hails from Samal, Bataan in the Philippines.  Americans, Mexicans and Filipinos all over the world are celebrating this triumph, eagerly anticipating the critical days leading to the finals as it unfolds on Star World.

In the Philippines, Jessica’s countrymen are no less ecstatic.  A kababayan who is making waves in the international scene, without a doubt putting a spotlight once again on the Philippines as a country rich in talent and character. Once again, the Filipino pride is burning in everyone’s hearts.

While news travels fast, not everyone in Samal, Bataan is able to catch the performance of Jessica as pay TV subscription is not available to a number of its townsfolk.  Together with Honorable Generosa dela Fuente Malibiran, Mayor of Samal, Cignal is mounting a free public viewing for Jessica Sanchez’ kababayan in Bataan, to give them a chance to witness and support Jessica, as the final 2 are chosen for the American Idol finals.

Mayor dela Fuente’s message to Jessica: You deserve to be in the show, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.  The Filipino people are proud of you, you make us prouder knowing that your roots came here from Samal, Bataan. It is with great pride and joy that we can again hear our idol to sing and once again shock and enchant the whole world of her singing prowess. You inspired us…keep inspiring Samaleños! Lastly, our gratitude to Cignal Digital TV for their tireless support in covering the event since the beginning.”

This Thursday, May 17, the townsfolk of Samal will be able to watch the performance night, and the results night on May 18, as it unfolds on Starworld’s American Idol, through Cignal’s pay TV service.  The 2-day activity will involve games, festivities and food – culminating to the public viewing of American Idol via the Starworld channel.
